This newly constructed waterfront lodge is located on the SE end of Vella Lavella Island in the Western Province. The three bungalows and dormitory sit under a row of shady trees looking out over the Gizo Straight and a set of small islands protecting the bay.
Facilities & Services
Guests staying at the Lodge can simply relax and enjoy the magical sea views from a hammock hanging under the trees, swim and snorkel, or explore the area well known for its WW11 , custom and geological sites. A twenty minute stroll brings you to Barakoma Airfield which is currently not in use but better know in WW11 days as the base for Pappy Boyington and his crew then known as Ba Ba Black Sheep. Vella LaVella has many kilometers of gravel roads established during logging days which link villages both on the east and western sides. Bird watchers have access to secondary forests and for those not able to walk long distances, the bird life in the low areas and gardens is quite prolific with the Vella White Eye one of the favourites to be found.
