A guide will accompany you as you tour through different viewing ponds containing small clams and coral species, larger tanks containing mature animals, a small laboratory and a reference library. During the tour your guide will explain the process of rearing aquaculture stock from brood stock to mature adult.
After your dry tour you can get wet! Get up close and personal with a snorkel through the floating baskets and brood stock on the sea floor. You are likely to see six different species of giant clam. Feel free to have a close look at the shape of the shell and the different colours of the mantle. Most of them these clams are Tridacna derasa or the ‘true giant clam' Tridacna gigas*.
Nusa Tupe Island is surrounded by reefs, which have healthy marine life So watch out for hundreds of species of tropical fish and crustaceans, huge green turtles, manta rays, sting rays and even dugongs!
* It is important that you don't disturb the clams by touching them.
- Duration: 2 hour(s)
- Location: Nusatupe Island
