The KFPL Ringgi Guesthouse was originally established to accommodate visiting foresters to Kolombangara Island working with the reforestation project. Today, visitors to the area are invited to stay in air-conditioned comfort and use the Guesthouse as a base to visit some of the last remaining natural forests in the area with an amazing biodiversity. Bird enthusiasts and naturalists will be amazed at the variety of endemic species.
The lovely staff at Ringi Cove Guesthouse are well experienced in looking after visitors to the area. They mainly originate from neighbouring villages on Kolombangara Island.
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Our goal is to maintain a sustainable and viable forestry operation whilst protecting the environment.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Kolombangara Forest Products Limited is the Solomon's largest sustainable forest company and the only supplier of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified plantation logs and timber. KFPL is also applying a sustainable approach to harvesting natural forests and working in partnership with the local communities to protect local biodiversity. The Guesthouse is open to both foresters and visitors interested in exploring the plantation as well as her soon to be opened sister lodge on the mountain- L5, which is situated in pristine forest below Mt Rano.
