If you are looking for a peaceful and friendly environment away from your stressful work place, Olazae Lodge offers a great local style holiday getaway experience. The two lodges are built on the waters edge of picturesque Saeraghi beach at the western end of Ghizo Island. Each comfortable bungalow is made from traditional Solomon Islands bush materials of sago leaf roof with timber walling and floor. From the deck of the bungalows you have a nice view across Vella La Vella Island and Ranogga.
Whilst cooking facilities are available, its a treat to watch Sandra prepare local food from their gardens in the hills. Traditional cooking methods using open fire and hot stones (Motu) give the food a special flavour. She charges $150 for 3 meals a day. Cooking classes are an option.
The surounding reefs offer hours of snorkelling enjoyment, or just paddle a local canoe. Siope can teach those who aspire to be fishermen using drop line and jag methods.
Hiking to the hills above the village provides magnificent views to the southern ocean or northwest across the fringing islands to Ranongga, Vella La Vella and Kolombangara.
