Vorivori Village Stay offers a marvellous introduction to village life in the Western Solomon Islands. Ronald and his family enjoy looking after their visitors as much as the visitors enjoy their stay. There's no frills and fancy touristy displays, but rather an opportunity to be involved in daily activities involving fishing, gardening, collection of food, cooking and social activities like singing and dancing.
Visiting Vorivori Village Stay provides an opportunity to step away from the busy modern world, and experience the customs and culture of Melanesia with Ronald, his family and the village community. Whilst your accommodation is western style with timber clad walls, and a cool local leaf roof, you will be invited to join in with daily subsistence life. Beds have mattresses with mosquito nets. Linen is supplied.
Other activities cost $50.00, such as custom basket weaving, cooking lessons using a stone oven motu, bush walking and bird watching. Island picnic, snorkeling, fishing or sight seeing is $250.00 per trip plus fuel use and boat hire.
West Ghizo has great surf spots easily accessed by local transport, walking on the coastal road, or boat from Vori Vori. Some of the local surfers live along the way between the village and Paelonge.
